Our aim is to provide transport in these areas for people who cannot conveniently use other publicly provided transport. We are willing to accept anyone who meets our criteria within the limits of our volunteer resources, however we do not operate specialist disabled transports.
Our volunteer drivers provide transport for individuals to attend medical appointments (eg. doctors, hospital, dentist, etc.); shopping; or other social activities.
However, we are not a taxi service and reserve the right to refuse journeys which do not meet the aims of the Association.
All are drivers are subject to DBS checks

In order to keep these services running we rely on volunteer drivers. All we ask is a bit of your time - as much or as little as you can spare - to take clients to their medical appointments, social events or other essential services like going to the shops, which helps keep them independent for longer. Volunteer Drivers use their own cars to transport these individuals, but get expenses of 45p/mile towards their costs (Inland Revenue set amount untaxed). It is very rewarding - here is what two of our current driving team say:
A Gentleman Driver: "It keeps me on the streets and I get to meet some very interesting people. Beats daytime TV hands down!"
A Lady Driver: "I started volunteering as a driver a few years back mainly to get myself out and about doing something positive. I have met and had wonderful chats with a variety of folk who are so appreciative of being able to get out themselves with our help. At times it's been quite humbling how thankful they are. Something many of us take for granted is to hop in the car and go somewhere but for many, getting to appointments, shopping or even talking to someone different can feel like a mountain to climb. It's a nice feeling to be able to help in a small way. We, the drivers, chose what times we can help out, there's no pressure but there is a great need for more volunteers to help more people."
If you think you might like to join our team, please ring 01937 835600 to talk to our staff who will be happy to answer any queries you may have and give you more information on how it works.
